The History of Cleveland Browns Football

After starting in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) in 1944, the Browns became a cornerstone franchise of the National Football League. They’ve since played an integral part in its evolution and were once dubbed “The Best Show in Town.”

One of the organization’s earliest highlights was its dominance in the 1950s, which culminated in three championships under the leadership of legendary head coach Paul Brown, for whom the club was named. Then, in 1964, while managed by head coach Blanton Collier, the players stunned the world with a shut-out victory over the Baltimore Colts to secure a fourth, an accomplishment still talked about to this day.

The merger between the NFL and the AFL in 1970 signified a new era of competition, and the talent pool got significantly deeper. It also marked the start of a dry spell for Cleveland. This led to the team being relocated to Baltimore in 1996, a move by owner Art Modell that deeply upset local folks who had supported their squad for generations.

The beloved Browns came back to Ohio in 1999 as an expansion franchise and, despite facing changes and challenges over the years, have remained steadfast on their journey back to the top. With promising young talent and unwavering support, they are writing the next chapter of their story. Find your tickets today, and see it unfold!

The Cleveland Browns Football Schedule

Keeping an eye on the calendar is the only way to ensure you don’t miss a minute of the live Cleveland football you love. We post the latest schedules and game day details to keep you in the loop. The biggest challenge left is choosing a worthy matchup.

The Browns have some notorious beef with the Pittsburgh Steelers. This long-standing feud dates back to the earliest days of the league, and it remains one of its most contentious relationships. When these two teams meet, you can always expect a fierce fight.

Divisional contests are always compelling, but the ones against the Cincinnati Bengals come with another big motivator—Ohio pride is on the line. These pairings test the players’ mettle and provide all the elements sports fans love about an intrastate battle.

No matter which opponent you choose to see the Browns face off against, you’re bound to have a blast! So see what’s left on the docket, or plan ahead for next season. Whenever you’re ready, we’ll be here to help you snag great seats!

Cleveland Browns Stadium Information & Parking

Cleveland Browns Stadium opened in 1999 and is a point of pride for Clevelanders. With a capacity of over 67,000, it’s the focal point of a 31-acre sports and entertainment complex in the “City of Champions.” Its waterfront location on the shore of Lake Erie and family-friendly atmosphere make it a one-of-a-kind facility.

The venue has a variety of game day accommodations, each with its own unique appeal. Before you buy your Browns tickets, be sure to review the available seating charts so you can gauge whether or not a specific location will meet your expectations. A general synopsis of sections is included below for your convenience.

Field Seats

If you want to get as close to the action as possible, how do oversized seats right on the Kentucky bluegrass sound? Lucky fans in field seats can choose to sit on the end zones or sidelines, but perks vary, so read all the details before you make a purchase.

100 Level

100-level seats put you right in the heart of the game, offering an immersive experience. Each section has up to 40 rows of seats, and the northwest side of the building is considered the “home” side.

The Browns enter the arena through a tunnel between sections 141 and 144 and head to their sideline in front of sections 132–134. The visiting team's tunnel is below section 101, and they line up in front of sections 107–109.

Behind the east end zone, in sections 118-122, you’ll find the Dawg Pound. This infamous area features noisy bleachers (with backs) where the most daring members of the crowd can drum up the noise during plays with scoring potential.

300 Mezzanine Level

Club seats on the sideline of the 300 level are extra comfortable and provide exceptional vantage points. These tickets are priced higher to cover the cost of exclusive amenities such as climate control, upgraded concessions, upgraded dining, and TV screens, as well as private entrances, elevators, and restrooms.

This level also includes elevated seats that are not part of the club offerings, and they can be found under the video boards on the corners and in the end zones. These mezzanine seats combine the best of both worlds—decent views without the premium price.

On the northeast side, section 317A is known as the Bud Light Party Deck, and in sections 318–323, there’s an elevated section of the “Dawg Pound” furnished with regular stadium seats. On the southwest side, sections 340–351 do not come with club access, and alcohol is prohibited in section 351.

500 Level

The upper deck is a budget-friendly option for those who enjoy panoramic views. Seats span the sidelines and corners, and lettered rows below the entrance come with more convenient access to the concourse than the uppermost sections.

Accessibility Options

Cleveland Browns Stadium aims to provide an inclusive experience with designated seating areas dispersed across three concourses. ADA relocations on event days are possible but not guaranteed. New locations will be on the same level as the initial ticket reservation.

Elevators near the entrances facilitate easy access, and each platform includes a power outlet. Comfort kits can be requested for use during the game and typically include noise-canceling headphones, sunglasses, fidget toys, weighted lap pads, and more.

There are limited handicapped spots available for people with properly marked vehicles, but there is a pick-up and drop-off point outside the University Hospitals Gate on the southeast corner of the building. Guests with service animals must enter through the South 7up City Club entrance.

General Parking & Alternative Transportation

Parking around Cleveland Browns Stadium can be a challenge. Luckily, you can reserve a spot ahead of time through GoTickets.com, and we highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity if you plan to drive.

If you’d prefer to leave the car at home, consider taking the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA). The Waterfront Line's Stadium Station is a short walk from the venue. RTA buses and the HealthLine BRT route are also options.

For those who like a scenic route, the Goodtime III and the Nautica Queen water taxis are often running on the Cuyahoga River, or you can take an Amtrak train from outside the city and connect to public transport once in Cleveland.

Browns Tailgating & Game Day Traditions

Tailgating is a time-honored tradition, and the Browns faithful take it to the next level. When Cleveland plays at home, you'll discover a sea of orange and brown surrounding FirstEnergy Stadium, as partygoers gather to grill, share memories, and enjoy some good old-fashioned revelry.

There’s a lot for every type of tailgater, from the low-key lake lovers to the foodie fans. Still, many prefer to visit local establishments like "The Pit," where they can savor Cleveland-style barbecue, or "Barley House," a popular spot for drinks and socializing.

Expect to see decked-out cars, interesting costumes, portable pubs, and people strategically moving giant Jenga pieces. You might even come across diehard devotees barking like dogs, a nod to Chomps, the loveable bullmastiff mascot.

As kickoff draws closer, ticket holders line up at the gates, where sounds from the arena raise the anticipation even further. Once inside, as soon-to-be spectators make their way to their seats, “Dawg tags” in the form of QR codes can be scanned so attendees can be taken to a site full of football-themed photo filters.

Finally, the starting whistle blows, and things really get cooking! “Hi-O Hi-O For Cleveland” gets everyone pumped and, in the third quarter, “Hang On Sloopy” really unites the crowd. Want to be a part of it? Grab your Cleveland Browns tickets today, and get to a game to support your team.
