About Lo Moon

Singer and guitarist Matt Lowell knew he wanted to start a band when he began writing songs, but the stars didn’t align until he crossed paths with bassist Crisanta Baker following a move from NYC to Los Angeles. After letting her hear a demo of his song “Loveless,” she was on board. Guitarist Samuel Stewart came next; the son of Eurythmics musician Dave Stewart and Bananarama’s Siobhan Fahey, he had music in his blood. Finally, drummer Sterling Laws rounded out the lineup, and Lo Moon was born.

Signed to Columbia Records, they made “Loveless” their debut single. As they fine-tuned material for their upcoming album, they embarked on a tour, testing out their new material at stops along the way. Their second single, “This Is It,” was well received at GovBall in NYC and Lollapalooza in Grant Park. “Thorns” took off while they were opening for French indie rock band Phoenix during the autumn of 2017. By early 2018, they were headlining sold-out shows, and their eponymous LP was ready for release.

The album, which features delicate melodies and introspective lyrics, showcased stellar musicianship. Lauded for its rich, layered sound and provocative storytelling, it climbed to number four on the US Billboard Heatseekers chart. Their electronic beats and dreamy rock vibes attracted a loyal following, and with each new boundary-breaking release and spellbinding performance, the fan base grew. • October 23, 2023: During their October residency at L.A.’s Zebulon, Lo Moon was joined by Curt Smith of Tears for Fears for a special rendition of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.” This collaboration bridged generations and demonstrated how timeless good music can be.
