About Limp Bizkit

Formed by Fred Durst, Sam Rivers, John Otto, and Wes Borland, Limp Bizkit burst onto the music scene in 1994, helping to pioneer a unique blend of nu-metal that incorporates elements of hip-hop, post-punk, and alternative. Their ascent to fame was catalyzed by high-energy live shows and appearances on MTV in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Despite lineup changes, most notably the departures and returns of guitarist Wes Borland, Limp Bizkit maintained its core sound and continued to influence the industry. They released multiple top ten hits, and their albums Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water claimed the top spot on the U.S. Billboard 200. The latter set a record for the fastest-selling rock album in its first week.

After remaining relatively quiet in recent years, the band is back! Fans can anticipate Limp Bizkit sustaining their energetic stage presence and potentially exploring new musical directions, as they have done throughout their career. As they continue to evolve, they will likely remain a significant influence for modern rock, hip-hop, and metal artists and groups who blend genres.

Live Moments That Made Headlines

Known for chaotic shows and controversial antics, Limp Bizkit has often been at the center of media attention. They create moments that resonate with their audience and occasionally stir widespread debate. The following are some of their most talked-about live performances:

  • August 1997: Following the release of their debut album Three Dollar Bill, Y’all, Limp Bizkit headed out on the Warped Tour, a big break for bands in the nu-metal genre. Fans liked what they heard, especially the group’s unforgettable cover of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song.

  • July 1999: Limp Bizkit's performance amidst the mayhem of Woodstock '99 became infamous for its chaotic energy, and “Break Stuff” has long since been considered a catalyst of the event's unruly atmosphere, prompting people to crowd surf on planks as items were thrown in the air.

  • June 2009: After a hiatus, Limp Bizkit reignited their reign at the Rock am Ring festival in Germany. It was a concert full of classics, electrifying a massive audience as part of a lineup that included The All-American Rejects, Bring Me the Horizon, and Killswitch Engage.

  • February 2015: Aboard the ShipRocked cruise, Limp Bizkit highlighted high-seas adventures with their distinct brand of hard-hitting music. After Durst addressed the crowd as the ship set sail, the band led a lineup that included Living Colour, P.O.D., Metal Allegiance, and Black Label Society.

  • July 2021: Limp Bizkit's post-lockdown performances at Rock Fest and Lollapalooza marked their return to the stage. Their sets during the pandemic, which featured hits like "My Generation," “Break Stuff,” and “Livin’ It Up,” were cathartic for both the band and fans.
