About Gladys Knight
Gladys Knight’s incredible journey in music began over seven decades ago in Atlanta, Georgia. Her powerful vocals have transcended genres, encompassing R&B, soul, pop, and gospel. A prodigious talent, Gladys first stepped into the world of music through gospel singing in her church as a young child. It wasn't long before she, along with her siblings and cousins, formed 'The Pips' in 1952.
The group played an integral role in shaping the Motown sound and sold over 20 million records. Their successful recording career includes numerous top-ten hits, four number-one R&B singles, and six number-one pop singles. They received three Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame in 2017, and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001.
When the Pips retired, Ms. Knight embarked on a solo career that has earned her Grammy Awards for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Album for “At Last,” Best Gospel Performance for “Heaven Help Us All” with Ray Charles, Best Gospel Choir or Chorus Album for “One Voice” with Saints Unified Voices, and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals with Patti LaBelle and Dionne Warwick.
She won a National Medal of Arts in 2021 and became a Kenny Center Honoree in 2022. Devoted fans eagerly anticipate more sensational music and mesmerizing performances from this mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who has left an indelible mark on the industry and the world with songs that resonate with all ages.
