About DaBaby
Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, better known as DaBaby, first made waves on the Charlotte rap scene in 2015, circulating mixtapes that caught the attention of the wider music community. He founded his own label, Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment, in 2017, and his breakthrough came with the 2019 release of Baby on Baby. The smash hit "Suge” cemented his rising reputation as a robust new talent.
Between 2019 and 2022, DaBaby appeared on 54 tracks scattered across the US Billboard Hot 100, either as a solo artist or a collaborator. He worked with Nicki Minaj, Chance the Rapper, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Gucci Mane, Future, DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Baby, Ashanti, J. Cole, Post Malone, Camila Cabello, and other heavy hitters in hip-hop and R&B.
His biggest charting successes came in 2020. Jack Harlow’s “WHATS POPPIN,” which featured him alongside Tory Lanez and Lil Wayne, shot to number two in February 2020 and remained on the chart for 51 weeks. "ROCKSTAR," which he recorded with Roddy Ricch, captured the number one spot in May, and he was featured on Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” which peaked at number two in October.
DaBaby’s albums Kirk and Blame It on Baby both soared to the top of the Billboard 200, and his trophy case began to fill with ASCAP Rhythm & Soul, BET Hip-Hop, and iHeartRadio Music Awards. Grammy nominations for his standout singles and albums cemented his place among music’s elite. His meteoric rise was astonishing, and everything he touched seemed to turn gold.
Despite being at the center of controversy several times during his years in the spotlight, DaBaby’s trajectory continues upward with relentless momentum. Future projects are highly anticipated, and there’s no doubt he will keep pushing boundaries. As long as he remains focused on his music, his name is bound to remain at the forefront of conversations about contemporary hip-hop.
